The Space
Entrance
You enter the home through its private gate and staircase that leads up to the kitchen's front door and garden.
Garden Patio
The garden patio is 50m2, with views out to the Aegean and Syros. It's laid with local slate, with built-in benches and table for outdoor seating. There is also a faucet where you can quickly rinse off beach sand or cool down. The garden is lush with rosemary, lavender, jasmine, margarita, succulents, and more.
Living Space
The main living space, with imposing traditional archways, brick-laid floors, southern windows to the garden and sea, and simple no-frills character. We purposely kept the furniture minimal to amplify the home's natural flow from one side to the other. We provide two yoga mats, and more upon request.
Kitchen
The kitchenette boasts a large southern-facing, iron-wrought window, oak wood countertop, Tinian marble sink, two-burner stovetop, under-counter fridge, and ample storage/shelves for various kitchen odds and ends. We’ve provided high quality cookware and a high-speed blender for those looking to cook meals at home.
Kitchen Goodies
We provide basic starter ingredients such as certified organic olive oil from our friends in Peloponnesus, tahini, carob rusks, an array of spices, sea salt, espresso, Greek coffee, herbal teas, and Tinian honey. We also provide bio-degradable dish soap, fresh sponges, napkins, and dish towels.
Is Earthy Right For You?
This home is NOT for everyone! But we trust it will delight those who are truly seeking it. This space carries much of our heart and soul, and so we are only open to renting it to visitors who truly value and respect it just as much as we do.
Bedrooms (the concept)
Creating a two-bedroom layout required that the en suite bedrooms occupy opposite ends of the home to maximize privacy, while still keeping as much natural light and openness as possible with the strategic use of interior windows and iron-wrought glass enclosures along various archways.
Bedroom One
This bedroom is spacious with its own restored fireplace and seating area, with both pinewood floors and restored marble. The sleeping nook is with a built-in bed with a queen-sized natural latex mattress and under head baskets for storage. There is a small interior window at the foot of the bed and a ceiling fan overhead, plus an iron-wrought door to the ensuite bathroom (w/ curtains for privacy).
Bathroom One
This bathroom is impressively spacious, somehow both primitive and chic, with an open-air shower area, salvaged iron-wrought sinks, and tucked-away washing machine. The glass partitions pull in as much natural light as possible, and the small garden bed is home to a hardy and happy plant. The earthen plaster - sourced from the home's own garden - is juxtaposed by the hand-cut marble flooring.
Bedroom Two
This bedroom is more cozy and compact in comparison to the first, yet makes up for it with a view and access out to the garden through a generously-sized window. It boasts an earthen wall partition from the bathroom area, exposed and lime-washed stonework, and a built-in double bed, with underhead space for baskets.
Bathroom Two
Directly behind the sleeping area is an open-air bathroom (enclosed only by curtain) with a Dionysian marble sink, wooden shelves, and built-in shower area with mosaic tiles, and a frosted window out to the garden.
